Developmental Coaches of the Year

Heath Kidd - Developmental Girls

In 2017, I coached 3 different developmental teams.  In the spring of 2017 I found myself on the field 6 days a week coaching U10 Girls Select Silver team and U8 Girls.  I enjoyed working with the Challenger coaches for the Academy Select program and learned a lot.  I began using many of the games and technical exercises for my U8 girls team.  This paid off as 5 of my U8 girls earned a spot on the U9 Academy Select Gold team in the fall season.

Fall 2017, I coached a U9 Academy Select Gold team.  This was a great experience as I took 11 girls who had never played together, and by the end of the season they were a TEAM.  Rondo was a foreign term for these girls at the beginning of the season, but by the end of the season they were all efficient and effective doing a variety of Rondo  games.  The girls worked hard, developed their skills and most importantly had fun.  We finished the season with a 6-1-1 record.

My third team for 2017 was a U5 coed team which I coached in the fall of 2017.  It had been a few years since I coached this level but it is always fun working with young children, touching the ball for the first time.  We played lots of fun games and began teaching them the concept of soccer and teamwork!

As a former soccer player, growing up in the CSA programs, I enjoy sharing my love and passion for the game with young children and giving back to our community.

I am honored to be selected as the Broomfield Soccer Club Developmental Coach of the year. "Be better today than you were yesterday and go out there and have some fun!"

John Parrish - Developmental Boys

In 2010, I was attending my daughter’s soccer practice and her coach asked me a question…Hey John, you want to help me with coaching the girls?  I began my coaching career that day and 8 years later I have coached 6U-14U boys and girls in both advanced and developmental leagues.  I love what I do and am truly blessed to work with a club that supports its coaches no matter what age or level you coach.  I am honored to be the Broomfield Soccer Club Boys Developmental Coach of the Year.  I want to thank 2 people in particular for helping me get started in coaching.  Allen Driggers, who first asked me to assist that 9U Girls team 8 years ago, gave me a chance to be a part of the BSC; and James Jimenez who was the first person to encourage me to get my coaching license.  Both these men put me on a path where I would get an opportunity to work with people like Heather Solar, Liam Sinclair, Jim Hunter, Paul DeFelice, Kyle Haynes, Todd Meisel, Rodd Westphal, Patrick Kazadi, Michael Green, Bill Stara, and so many others.  I cannot thank you enough for your advice, kind words, and support throughout this journey.

Currently I have 3 teams.  I coach the 13U Boys Vapor, the 10U Girls Silver Select, and a group of 6U Boys that are truly the reason coaches get into this sport.  My boys are wide open mentally and physically.  They are sponges for the game and their enthusiasm is infectious.  I love the game when scores are less important than development.  At 6U soccer, we are about having fun, learning sportsmanship, having more fun, touching the ball, having even more fun, developing our body movements, and having lots of fun. Teaching these boys then watching them perform is incredibly satisfying. Their development is happening all the time and to see a smile when they realize they can do something they couldn’t 2 weeks earlier is simply the best.  I look forward to our Spring season and seeing everyone on the pitch.
