Laws of the Game
Welcome to the BSC Laws of the Game page for Recreational (All Ages), Academy (U9-U10) & Blast Competitive (U11+)! In the game of soccer, there are no rules... there are Laws. The Laws describe: the dimensions for the playing field and ball, the number of players on a team and the equipment they are permitted to use, match durations, the type and nature of fouls and their penalty and many other aspects that define the sport. In our day-to-day lives, laws such as those that regulate how we drive cars or do our taxes are subject to interpretation by judges and other legal authorities. Instead of judges, soccer has Referees who have the authority and training to quickly assess what's happening in the game, then determine how the Laws apply to different situations.
Additionally, the Laws of the Game are often adjusted to suit the age of players and the playing environment. There are usually different rules for youth players than for adults and rules are often different for outdoor matches than indoors. Linked below you will find BSC's own versions of the Laws which will be applied to many matches your player participates in. There are additional files which are links to Laws provided by other bodies which may govern over matches.
