Position Camps
Throughout the year BSC runs optional camps for Blast players which cover a wide range of themes. These are designed to go beyond the development offered from regular practices and, in some cases, beyond what you can get anywhere else in Colorado. Below are descriptions of these special positional and team camps run on an annual basis. Looking for summer camps? Visit our Camps page.
Striker Camp (60 Participants - U11+ Ages)
Every year we run position-specific camps on our world-class turf field. During the spring season our striker camp is open to anyone in the Club who plays or has interest in playing as a forward. Three groups of 20 participants are given a four week course of instruction from coaches with a history of playing attacking positions.

Flank Midfield Camp (60 Participants - U11+ Ages)
During the fall season we move our position-specific focus to the midfield, with two courses, each running for four weeks. The first focuses on central (“inside”) midfield positions. Lessons address how to attack, defend, and transition effectively; reading the game; maintain possession; when and how to penetrate; being the playmaker; effective communication; and support, and combination play. Three groups of 20 participants are given low player/coach ratio training from our top coaches with central midfield experience.

Central Midfield Camp (60 Participants - U11+ Ages)
The latest in our position-specific camps: the flank midfield camp focuses on wide midfield positions (“outside” “wing”). Topics covered include how to attack, defend, and transition effectively; combination play to attack, effective crossing; switching roles; using width; running with the ball; improving confidence in 1v1 situations; and channeling attackers. Three groups of 20 participants are given low player/coach ratio training from our top coaches with flank play experience.

Defender Camp (60 Participants - U11+ Ages)
Following on from the success of the Striker Camp, Broomfield developed a camp aimed specifically at defending. Topics included tackling, recovery, defensive shape, systems of play, dealing with set pieces, dealing with crosses, and developing an offside trap. Three groups of 20 participants are given a four week course of instruction from coaches with a history of playing defensive positions. The camp takes place on Sundays during the spring season.

Goalkeeper Camp (15 Participants - U11+ Ages)
The final piece in our position-specific series is a goalkeeper camp. Here top class goalkeeper trainers bring together players from all teams in the club to work on specific aspects of the game that could benefit from additional training. These can range from simple handling to the complex footwork of dropping back to the bar. Dealing with the three goal game from flank play and correcting angles on breakaways. The camp is offered during the summer.

Winter Fitness Camp (300+ Participants - U10+)
Our pre-season fitness camp runs during the last week of January at Broomfield High School as part of our kick-off for the spring season. Over 300 players take part from all age groups. Themes includ endurance, strength, stamina, and technique. A large number of coaches help out with running sessions designed by Broomfield Track Coach Jaime Morrison and Director of Coaching Tim Hankinson.

Team Camp (13+ Participants - U11+ Ages)
Following on from our successful summer International Camp, our trainers spend a week working with whole teams. The environment is similar to the previous week, with activities from around the world and a cosmopolitan mix of experienced and motivated coaching staff. Teams sign up and perform all practices together, helping to build their tactical understanding and task cohesion. We can accommodate several teams during the week but demand is often high so we encourage managers and parents to book early.
