Recreational soccer begins at the U4 age group, and runs through U15. When registering your children, please be absolutely sure that you enter the date of birth correctly and that they are registered in the correct age group. All players are asked to play in their own age group as each program provides its own unique set of skills for player development.

From U4 through U8, all games are played against other teams from within the Broomfield Soccer Club. At U8 or U9, players transition into one of two programs, our traditional recreational soccer program, or our accelerated development program, Select. Teams begin to play other clubs, and you have several options having to do with commitment level, skill level, etc. Once players get to U11, competitive soccer begins! Most players go the competitive soccer route, but some do choose to continue with recreational soccer, which BSC offers as well.

The Broomfield Soccer Club Junior Academy program, is available to players from U8-U10.  The focus of the Junior Academy program is an introduction to advanced training, higher level of competition, and individual player development in preparation for the competitive soccer program.

Teams in the Junior Academy program participate in the state league, the Broomfield Shootout tournament, and additional local tournaments.  At this age, teams do not travel out of state.  Most games will be in the Denver metro area.

Junior Academy program teams are formed through a process called mixers.  Mixers are held annually in mid-late May.  At mixers, teams are formed for the year long cycle.  The purpose of mixers is to assess players for the Junior Academy program. (If a player is not interested in the Junior Academy program, they need not attend the mixer. They would simply register in June for the Rec program in the fall or December for the Rec program in the spring.)  Mixers are less formal than a tryout, and a good bridge to the process of team formation at the competitive level.  If a player wishes to join the Junior Academy program after mixers (most often because the family has recently moved to town), they may contact our professional staff to arrange for next steps.
