BROOMFIELD BLAST

PLAYER PLACEMENT

Thank you for your interest in Broomfield Soccer Club! We are excited to launch our player placement process for the 2026-2027 season.

This year, there are two MAJOR changes to the player placement process.

First, age groups across the country are moving away from the birth year chart to a school year aligned chart. This can be found below, and in several different areas on the website as well.

Second, the dates and team formation process will be quite different than it has been in prior years. Please read below for specifics for both current BSC players (internal) and players who do not currently play for BSC (external).

Please note, all players who do not currently play for Broomfield should fill out the appropriate player interest form linked to the right. Players who do currently play for Broomfield should not fill out the player interest form, but will need to register for Player Placement. All players, both current and prospective, will need to register for Player Placement in order to be offered a spot on a team. Registration begins by clicking the big red "Player Registration" button and following the steps from there.

Please see the "Kickarounds and Tryouts Schedule" tab for specific times and locations for your age group!

Subhead: ages, facilities, lorem ipsum dolor.

INTERNAL PLAYERS

Due to the impending change in age groups throughout the US, the process for internal players who are currently playing for Broomfield Soccer Club will be different than it has been recently. Beginning in April, we will hold age group transition sessions structured around the “new” school based age groups. This will be a very important first step in the team formation process. All players, unless identified specifically and informed by their coach or age group director, should plan to attend the age group transition session in which their date of birth will align for the 2026-2027 season, regardless of which team or age group they are currently participating with. The 2026-2027 age group chart is posted below for your reference.  The specific dates for these will depend on the age groups, and will be posted on our Kickarounds and Tryouts page, and also be emailed to all families.

Beginning May 1st, all clubs in Colorado will be allowed to host players from outside of their clubs for player placement activities. At this time, we will continue to have one age group training, one practice session where external players are invited in to train with teams, and one team specific training with current teams each week until the end of the season on May 17th. We understand that this is disruptive to the end of the season, and ask that any current BSC players that may be attending player placement activities with other clubs during these weeks communicate this with their coaches so that they can plan accordingly. We can assure you this is not to be punitive, but simply to minimize disruptions.

Beginning May 18th, we will start sending out team offers. On May 18th, 19th and 20th we will be hosting formal tryouts for all players, both internal and external. This will be the last step in team formation, and all players should plan to attend all sessions, regardless of whether they’ve been placed on a team or not, in order for teams to be formed to the best of our ability. This is very important to the process, as it will allow coaches and staff to place players on teams that best match their current developmental level.

Please note, this does mean that there will be NO tryouts during the traditional week after Memorial Day. Everyone gets one more week of summer this year!

EXTERNAL PLAYERS

For the 2026-2027 player placement cycle, and due to the age group changes occurring across the country, the process is changing. Player who do not currently play with Broomfield Soccer Club, but are interested in playing for BSC are encouraged to fill out the appropriate BSC External Player Interest Form linked above as early as possible. Those who have expressed interest in playing for BSC by filling out the form prior to May 1st will be invited to the appropriate age group trainings and team trainings beginning May 1st. No activity with external players is allowed prior to May 1st for the 2026-2027 player placement cycle across the entire state of Colorado. Please note, all external players should sign up for the age group in which they will align for the 2026-2027 season, regardless of their current age group.  The 2026-2027 age group chart is posted below.

The player ID sessions and team trainings that external players are invited to that occur between May 1st and May 17th are the most important first step in evaluating and forming teams for all external players. Players that attend these activities from May 1st through May 17th may receive a team placement offer beginning on May 18th, the first day that players are allowed to commit to clubs for the 2026-2027 seasonal year.

May 18th, 19th and 20th, BSC will hold formal tryouts for all age groups. All players, both internal and external, should plan to attend these tryouts regardless of if they’ve been offered a spot on a team or not. This is the final step in the team formation process, and attendance is mandatory so that coaches and staff can best place all players on the team that is appropriate for their current developmental level.

Frequently ASKED QUESTIONS

  • What is Broomfield Blast Competitive?

The Broomfield Blast Competitive Program is part of Broomfield Soccer Club (BSC) and provides the opportunity for competitive soccer play for advanced players age 9 and up. The teams compete in various Advanced State League divisions in CSA. Game results and league tables are maintained and there is an annual and seasonal promotion / relegation scheme in place to balance the level of competition in each division.  We also run a higher level "Academy" program for both boys and girls.  Information on our Academy program can be found via the Academy pages on this website.

  • What is the age group breakdown?

For the 2025-2026 season, the U11 – U19 age groups will be defined by birth year.

    •  U11: 2015
    •  U12: 2014
    •  U13: 2013
    •  U14: 2012
    •  U15: 2011
    •  U16: 2010
    • U17: 2009
    • U18: 2008
    •  U19: 2007
  • How many teams will be formed at each age group? And do players get “cut?”

We try to form as many teams as we can, based upon the number of players registered for player placement. Historically, we have had 4-6 teams at each age group. Following tryouts, we form Blast Competitive teams that are named “Prestige,” “Extreme,” “Thunder,” “Force,” “Attack,” and “Surge.”

We play in CSA’s Advanced State Leagues and teams are placed in different leagues based on what is appropriate for the skill level and athleticism of the team as a whole. The Prestige teams are considered the top team in each competitive age group and will be formed with the most advanced players participating in tryouts. The Extreme, Thunder, Force, Attack, and Surge teams are formed in succession.

We make every effort to place all players who come to tryouts on a team. We work within our own program, and use our relationships with other clubs around the area, to make sure players who can’t be accommodated on Blast Competitive teams find places on BSC Recreational teams or on teams of other clubs. For players not selected for a Blast team, BSC’s Recreational Program remains an excellent option. Recreational teams are NOT formed via the tryout process.

Registration for the recreational program runs from May 1st through July 15th via the BSC website. These teams continue with volunteer coaches and have a varying level of skill.

  • Who are the Blast Coaches?

Coaches are selected by the Directors of Coaching, Liam Sinclair for the boys, David Castro for the girls, from a group of qualified individuals who have a strong passion for both the game of soccer and the development of youth soccer players. You can see a list of coaches under the PROGRAMS Tab on the BSC Website. The website will be updated weekly as assignments are completed for Prestige, Extreme, Thunder, Force, Attack, and Surge.

  • What are the expectations of players on Blast Competitive teams?

    Summer

Once teams have been formed, you will have a team meeting to review the annual calendar. At that time, the team may select to play in the Broomfield 3v3 league. We also encourage you to sign up for our summer camps (on an individual, not team, basis). More information about of all our camps can be found on the BSC website, registration is open now.

    Fall

Training: Each competitive team trains three days per week. Fall training officially begins August 1st(ish, depending on how the week of August 1st lays out) and will continue through the late October/early November (depending on team schedule). Individual coaches will set up practice times and schedules based upon their teams. League games begin in late August, usually the weekend prior to Labor Day weekend. Each team will play 8-10 home and away games per season. The CSA Advanced League can include teams within Metro Denver, Fort Collins, southern Wyoming, Colorado Springs, Pueblo, Vail, and Grand Junction. The last day for league games is in mid-November. Top level teams will play in State Cup or Presidents Cup, which kicks off over Labor Day weekend.

    Winter

During the winter months, each Blast Competitive team will be scheduled for winter training. This training may take place both indoors and outdoors depending on weather and availability. Additional activities that teams and individuals may elect to participate in include indoor futsal leagues and camps, including ones hosted by BSC.

    Spring

The City of Broomfield opens the fields for regular practice on approximately March 1st. At this time, teams will resume their regular practice schedule of 3 training days/week. The times and location may change. Again, each team will play 8-10 home and away games in the CSA Advanced League. Opening weekend will be in early March, usually the second weekend. The final day of games is in mid-May. There is no off weekend for spring break. Top level teams will play in State Cup or Presidents Cup.

  • What tournaments will my daughter/son play in?

Coaches receive recommendations and approval from the BSC Technical Staff based on each individual team. Tournament registration fees are included in your registration fees. The U11-U14 Prestige & Extreme registration fees include 3 tournaments, and the Thunder, Force, Attack, and Surge registration fees include 2 tournaments. The U15-U19 Prestige team registration fees include 3 tournaments, Extreme 2 tournaments, and Thunder, Force, Attack 1 tournament.
